Spanning around 18 sq.km, with most of it being long expanses of sandy beaches, this island is blessed with the best of nature without being encroached upon by modern development. There are Casurina tree lined avenues throughout the island that make it easy to walk or just cycle around leisurely.

For those into exploring nature and marine life, Long Island has a lot of treasures to offer. There are verdant green forests with many little coves all around. Most of the beaches are untouched by tourists and just waiting to be explored by you. You can see evergreen forests of tidal swamp forests all around. These forests are home to many different kinds of birds that will be a treasure-trove for bird lovers. The Yerrata creek is a place you can cruise through at sunset with your loved one, making memories that will stay with you for life.

One of the most famous beaches in Long Island is the Lalaji Bay Beach. The boat-ride starts at Yerrata Jetty, taking about 1.5 hours, but you will never get bored as you will get to enjoy the scenic beauty of the creek (mangroves as well) through which you will be traveling. You can swim to your heart’s content in the aquamarine clear waters of this beach or just spend your time walking and exploring along its clean sandy shores or even just sunbathe and lose yourself in the tranquility of the moment. For couples who like to explore new places, a trek through the village of Long Island will be an interesting experience. There are plantations, rainforests, and regenerated forests in the village. From the jetty you can trek around 6 km to reach the Lalaji Bay. Here there is a secluded cove where you can have a picnic. There are also coral reefs where you can go snorkeling or scuba diving in leisure. From Long Island, you can take a boat ride to the Merk Bay where, if you are lucky, you can catch a sight of dolphins frolicking in the ocean. Merk Bay is just an hour boat ride away from Long Island.

Another island which is in close proximity to Long Island is the Guitar Island, just a 15-minute boat ride away. This beach is far away from the tourist crowds, where you can just swim, sunbathe, read a book, swing on a hammock, enjoy a picnic, or just lose yourself in the beauty and peace that surrounds this beach.
